![]() The slums of Brazil are a place where two worlds co-exist in eternal conflict. The world of drug trafficking, violence and gangs, and the world of those who are determined to rise above their environment to lead a life of sacrifice, hard work and value. For parents, keeping their children on the right side of the equation is even more challenging, since their children are constantly tempted by the illusion of easy money and power swaying them away from the example of poverty and humility their parents want them to follow. Options out of the slums are few and rare, but what "Only When I Dance" has captured, is the possibility that when given a chance, those children can find the light that will lead them out of that world, into the possibility of a bright future. "Only When I Dance" follows two teenage ballet dancers through their struggles and the path that leads them to international dance competitions, in hopes of winning a place in a company that will lead them out of the slums.
