There is a human tendency of assuming that problems are over when they disappear from the news. People who are so moved to act when watching images of devastation and suffering, forget that victims are still left behind after the news have grown tired of them. Over 100 thousand children were directly affected by the Earthquake and Tsunami that hit Japan this year. Most were displaced and lost their homes, school and friends. Many of those also lost their families. We have received a call from friends who are going to Japan very soon, with the objective of doing just that; bring a little bit of joy and activities to children stranded in shelters and orphanages. They have asked us to help get donations of Arts and Crafts they could bring. Small packages of stickers, coloring pencils, balloons, colored paper... If you'd like to contribute, please send them to: Beholders Group There is very little time, so please send them right away. The first group will be leaving by the 26th of June. Those in NYC, you could also send messages to our Facebook page: Please, don't make financial donations. If you'd like to donate money, please donate to one of the groups listed HERE. Many thanks.

We support most of our projects with proceeds from our store. Our store is supplied mostly by fair trade, organic or small community projects. A large percentage of the sales go to charities in the same area, for a total investment of 40-50% of the total price directly affecting those communities. |
